First Aid Level 1

The First Aid Level 1 course is intended primarily for people wishing to learn the effective skills of providing CPR and First Aid to victims of all ages. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a Department of Labour First Aid Certificate to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. First on Scene have developed a Level 1 course with increased content to help you deal with all emergencies correctly and confidently.

 

 

 

First Aid Level 2

The objective of this course is to allow students with a basic knowledge of first aid to become proficient and confident in the practical application of their skills. A lot of time will be spent on primary and secondary surveys and introduction to patient simulations so students learn to make the right decisions on the extent of an injury and treat it correctly.

 

 

 

 

First Aid Level 3

The objective of this course is to allow participants with an advanced knowledge of first aid to become proficient and confident in the practical application of their skills. Theory learnt on the Level 1 and 2 courses is taught at a higher level and is all done in scenario based settings. A substantial amount of time will be spent on primary and secondary surveys so that participants learn to make the right decisions on the extent of an injury and how to treat it correctly. This will be by far the most important and beneficial part of the Level 3 course.

 

 

 

 

 

Basic Life Support

Developed by the American Heart Association, the BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) course is designed to teach the skills of CPR and choking for victims of all ages, including ventilation with barrier devices, pocket masks, bag-valve-mask devices with supplemental oxygen and the use of Automated External Defibrillators to all healthcare providers in both hospital and out-of-hospital settings. These healthcare providers may include (but are not limited to) doctors, nurses, paramedics, medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, doctor’s assistants, registrars, interns, medical and nursing students in training, aides, medical and nursing assistants and other allied health personnel.

 

 

 

CPR for Everyone

Developed by the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa, the CPR for EVERYONE course is designed to teach the techniques of CPR and choking in adults, children and infants; and the use of the AED to lay rescuers, particularly those who are expected to respond to emergencies in their occupation or workplace. The course is ideal for security personnel, law enforcement officers, firefighters, lifeguards, swimming coaches, health and fitness staff, corporate and retail employees and other lay responders.

 

 

 

 

CPR for Professionals

Developed by the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa, CPR for Professionals course is designed to teach the skills of CPR and choking for victims of all ages, including ventilation with barrier devices, pocket masks, bag-valve-mask devices with supplemental oxygen and the use of Automated External Defibrillators to all healthcare providers in both hospital and out-of-hospital settings. These healthcare providers may include (but are not limited to) doctors, nurses, paramedics, medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, doctor’s assistants, registrars, interns, medical and nursing students in training, aides, medical and nursing assistants and other allied health personnel.

The course is also designed for anyone who is required to take a Healthcare Provider Course for employment. The course is accepted as a prerequisite for advanced courses in resuscitation, including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Neonatal Life Support (ANLS), BLS and Local Instructor courses.

 

 

 

 

First Aid Essentials

Developed by the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa, the FIRST AID ESSENTIALS FOR CHILDREN course is intended primarily for those who are expected to provide CPR and first aid directly to children. The course targets all lay responders such as parents, caregivers, guardians, domestic workers and family members wanting to learn first aid essentials for children.

 

 

 

 

First Aid Basics

This first aid course has been designed for people who require the skills to respond to a medical emergency but have limited training time available or do not require official certification. Content of this course may be adapted to include specific content to suit the needs of special interest groups such as hiking or cycling clubs.

 

 

 

 

 

Baby Basics

Developed by the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa, BABY BASICS is a two-hour orientation program. This program has been designed to equip parents and families on handling CPR and choking emergencies specifically on infants and newborn babies.
The BABY BASICS material includes a take-home DVD demonstrating the skills, an A4 laminated poster and an A6 laminated key card which can be attached to the nappy bag.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Instructor Course

At First on Scene, we offer instructor courses that will give you the skills and confidence to teach others how to effectively administer CPR to adults, children and infants and will provide you with an instructor certification card from The American Heart Association and The Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa.
